It shouldn’t come as much of a shock but someone has just placed the winning bid of $1.1 million to be the owner of Corvette Stingray #001.
We reported last week that the first production 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray
would be up for auction in an effort to raise money for the College for
Creative Studios in Detroit, Michigan. Just yesterday a guy named Rick
Hendrick placed the winning bid for 2014 Corvette Stingray
#0001. The price was $1.1 million. The event took place at the
Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, Arizona where prospective bidders
were given the opportunity to look at a pre-production C7 Corvette
up-close.
Hendricks will also have the chance to pick his car’s exterior and
interior colors as well as other options. More than likely, this car
will increase in value over time, perhaps making the intitial investment
worth it. Also sold at the same auction was GM CEO Dan Akerson’s 1958
Corvette, which went for $270,000.
